The night started out by Mike winning his FIRST HEAT race and then he went on to WIN his FIRST FEATURE!!!! elow is a write up by Dan Martin. It was very exciting!!!! THANKS SO MUCH to the fans who were so loudly (lol)pulling for him and all our competitors for there support :)
Mike Scorzelli of Malta, NY, cruised to his first career victory at Thompson Speedway in a caution-free Late Model main event. In the early going, Jeff Hartwell and Scorzelli were locked in a heated battle for the lead. John Falconi and Mark Jenison also ran fender-to-fender for the second position. D...eeper in the pack ...Wayne Coury, Sr., Mark Oliveira, Tommy O’Sullivan and Rick Gentes were mixing it up from fifth on back. On lap eight, the pursuit by Scorzelli paid off as he was able to take the top spot. At halfway, Scorzelli enjoyed a ten car length advantage over a great battle between Hartwell and Falconi. Coury, Jenison, O’Sullivan, Gentes, Materas and Oliveira ran inside the top-ten. Over the final stages of the event, Scorzelli continued to enjoy a sizeable advantage over Hartwell. On the white flag lap, Coury had caught Hartwell while O’Sullivan and Falconi continued to do battle. Scorzelli cruised under the checkers for the popular victory.
